Red Wildflower Belly Mug

750one of one

Red Wildflower Belly Mug is a Wheel-thrown round-bellied form with pulled strap handle mugs in Cream speckle gloss with hand-painted red botanical sprigs and dark green stems glaze, handmade at Mita Pottery Studio, Rakkar, Himachal Pradesh. ₹750. One of one.

Some mornings the hills are hidden and the studio is quiet and all you want is something warm to hold. This mug was made for that feeling — round-bodied, easy in the palm, with little red flowers scattered across it like the ones that appear along the path after rain.

The belly is thrown on the wheel and left full and low, the walls curving out before they tuck back in at the rim. A pulled strap handle sits comfortably square. The cream stoneware body shows fine iron speckle through a gloss glaze fired around 1220°C. Red and dark green botanical sprigs — branching stems, tight buds, open bell-heads — are painted freehand around the exterior, each plant slightly different from the last.

“That unplanned swirl, that crooked handle — they are the story of the hour spent making it.”
