Two-person stays are confirmed on the dates rather than booked online, because the studio only has so many wheels in it. Message us and we will tell you straight away.

Every price above is per person, for one guest in a private room, and includes the room, three meals a day, the studio and Indian taxes. Two of you sharing a room costs less per head than two separate bookings; pick a stay above to see that figure. Firing beyond the included allowance, and glazing, are charged at the studio’s standard rates.
Booking on your own, as most guests do? The room is yours alone: we never put two guests who do not know each other in the same room. Travelling as a pair and happy to share? Every stay carries a published price for two of you sharing, so there is nothing to ask for.
Village stay · traditional build
A clean, private room in a traditional mud-and-slate village house: cool through summer, warm in winter, and honest in the way old buildings are. Full of the character that brings people to this valley.

A larger, quieter apartment with its own sitting room and kitchenette, so your morning coffee and your late tea run on your schedule rather than anyone else's.
A kiln is sold by the room your work takes up, not by what it weighs. Small pieces share a firing with everyone else's and are billed by weight. A tall vase or a wide platter can occupy a cabin, or the whole kiln, on its own, and then nothing else can go in beside it, so it is charged for the space instead. Madhumita tells you which applies before a piece goes in, never after it comes out.

Free to move your dates once, up to 30 days before you arrive. Cancel more than 60 days out and you get everything back bar the card fee. Inside 30 days we cannot re-let the room or the studio, so the deposit is kept, and inside 15 days, the full fee.
Everything you have paid is returned, less the payment-processing fee our bank does not refund us (about 3% of the amount paid). Nothing has been committed on your behalf at this point.
Your room is being held and your studio dates are off the calendar. If you paid in full, everything above the deposit is refunded to you.
By now your accommodation has been booked and paid for on your behalf, and two or three weeks of studio time cannot realistically be filled at this notice.
The room is paid, the food is ordered and the teaching days are gone. This is the window travel insurance exists for, which is why we ask you to carry it.
For most of what is here, no. The weekend stay, the taught retreat and both immersions assume you have never touched clay. The practice weeks and the residency are the exceptions: they are self-directed, so you should already be able to centre and work unaided.
Space and quiet, and nothing else. Both are private and, on a solo booking, yours alone. The mud house is a room in a traditional village house; the premium room is a larger apartment with its own sitting room, kitchenette and balcony. It adds about ₹1,429 a night, and the studio, the teaching and the food are identical either way.
Room, three meals a day, all clay, all glazes, all tools, and the first few kilograms of firing are in the price, which also includes Indian taxes. Flights, visas, insurance, meals out and firing beyond your allowance are not. There is no service charge and no per-day extra.
Because a weekend costs the studio nearly as much to set up as a fortnight does: the same arrival, the same clay prepared, the same kiln packed, spread across two nights instead of fifteen. A weekend works out at about ₹8,000 a night in the mud house, against about ₹6,000 for the two-week immersion. The longer you stay, the better the rate, on every rung.
